Jamie Phillips

Jamie Phillips, Vice President, The Heart Center

Jamie Phillips is the Vice President of the Heart Center.  Jamie received a Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio University. She was awarded her masters of health administration from The Ohio State University. Jamie has over thirteen years of diverse health care administration experience with leading edge health care delivery systems and organizations. Jamie is responsible for the Heart Center’s direct operations, outreach, marketing and business development. She works with various administrative staff in fund-raising, physician practice management, payor relations and planning and business development to coordinate the Heart Center’s strategic vision and goals with the various hospitals entities and services. She also works closely with the inpatient and surgical nursing, as well as support any research development and implementation. Jamie concentrates on three opportunities for the Heart Center- Focus on the patient, family and referring physician; Commit to build and to grow the Heart Center; and Develop and reward people.

Amy Biddle, MSN, RN, Director of Clinical Services

Amy is the Director of Clinical Services for The Heart Center.  Amy received her undergraduate degrees from Northern Kentucky University, Highland Heights, Kentucky and Carlow University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  She was awarded her Masters degree in Nursing with nursing administration focus from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Amy has extensive clinical and leadership experience in pediatric critical care having worked at nationally renowned pediatric medical centers.  Amy's focus is to lead nursing and other allied health personnel in strategic directives to ensure world class patient/family care in The Heart Center.

Vince Olshove, CCP, CCT

Vince Olshove, CCP, CCT, Director Perfusion and Cath Lab

Director of the Cardiovascualar Perfusion Department, Manager of the Cardiac Catheterization & Interventional Suites, and Manager of the CardioThoracic Operating Room at The Heart Center at Nationwide Children's Hospital. Vince is a Clinical Instructor for the Circulation Technology Division of the School of Allied Health Medicine at The Ohio State University. Vince's clinical interests include miniaturization of neonatal cardiopulmonary bypass circuits, bloodless bypass techniques, hybrid cardiopulmonary bypass systems, and electronic data acquisition and perfusion records.

Marty Valentine

Marty Valentine, Program Manager, Heart Center Clinics and Non-Invasive Cardiology

Marty graduated from Marian College, Indianapolis, Indiana in 1990 with an Associate in Science, emphasis in Radiologic Technology, and then with a Bachelor of Science in 1992. While completing her bachelors, Marty worked as a Radiologic Technologist at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Marty then continued her career after moving back to Columbus in 1993 by working in Interventional Radiology and then transitioned to the Cardiac Cath Lab at the Mount Carmel Health System. In June 2003, Marty was given and accepted the opportunity to join the Nationwide Children's Heart Center where she manages both the Cardiology Diagnostics department and the Cardiology Clinic. Marty’s goal for her departments is to provide an environment for quality patient care as well as continued staff development.

 

Dave Melvin, CRT

Dave Melvin, CRT, Manager, Heart Center Information Systems

Dave is the Manager of Information Services for the Heart Center. His background includes more than 30 years of clinical experience as a Respiratory Therapist, with special interest in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, NICU and CICU. He also has over 10 years of managing various TeleMedicine programs, helping to develop regional programs in Nebraska, Florida and Ohio. Dave has also been a consultant in TeleMedicine with other institutions, including Columbia University and the US Army. Dave’s current focus includes integrating the various computer systems used in the Heart Center into a seamless, coherent presentation of a patient’s clinical information to the practitioner. He is also involved in the Hospital’s growing videoconferencing capabilities, working with Information Services, Education, Neonatology and other departments as they realize the full potential of this service.

Soojin Lee

Soojin Lee, Business Manager, The Heart Center

Soojin is a business manager of The Heart Center. She earned her master’s degree in Health Administration from Washington University in St. Louis. After receiving her MHA, Soojin completed her Administrative Fellowship at Humility of Mary Health Partners in Youngstown, OH. Prior to joining The Heart Center at Nationwide Children’s, Soojin worked at OhioHealth in Columbus, OH, where she provided expertise in organizational long range financial planning, annual strategic plan, service line analysis, and business development. Soojin’s current role includes regional outreach, program development and evaluation, formulation and execution of the strategic plan, and financial operation. She’s also focusing on operational process improvement. Soojin works closely with clinical and administrative teams in The Heart Center, as well as Planning, Marketing and Public Relations, and Finance.

 

Mary Lou Naftzger

Mary Lou Naftzger, Manager, Heart Center Support Services

Mary Lou Naftzger is the Manager of the Heart Center Support Staff at Nationwide Children's Hospital. She graduated from Ohio University with a BS in Mathematics and began her career teaching in the Solon, Ohio, School System. In 1979 an opportunity to work in the medical field arose and  she took the position of  supervisor of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, Ohio until 1991. Mary Lou transferred to Nationwide Children's Hospital in July of 1991 where she continued as Supervisor of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery. In September of 2004 she took on additional responsibilities to become the Manager of all Support Staff of the Heart Center. The support staff is a combination of both Cardiothoracic and Cardiology assistants who support the physicians and directors of the Heart Center. Mary Lou’s focus centers on establishing a diverse selection of dedicated assistants motivated by the principles of professionalism.
